#rawAlberta Contest!

WIN A SPOT AT THE MOST ANTICIPATED ALBERTA FOOD EVENT OF THE YEAR.

Use the hashtag #rawAlberta and post a photo or video to the Cook It Raw Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and you will be entered to win a spot at the by-invite-only #rawAlberta Chef’s Table final dinner in October.

This summer, we’re asking people from across the province to tell us what they think is unique to Alberta food culture. Throughout the summer, we’ll post thematic questions pertaining to Alberta gastronomy to post on. Each week, we’ll pick the best post and repost it as well as award one spot at the Cook It Raw Final Dinner in Calgary, where internationally renowned chefs will join forces with the top culinary talent in Alberta to create 7 iconic dishes based on locally sourced ingredients.

Become an Alberta Culinary Ambassador and help promote your favourite local cuisine to the world! Contest ends on September 21st and a list of winners will be announced on September 28th.

The public campaign is designed to engage and incorporate feedback from Albertans across the province. Cook It Raw will be asking a series of questions that will help to define what Albertan cuisine is, what it reflects and what makes it unique within the global gastronomic environment.

By connecting with people across the province through traditional and social media, and asking them to participate as Alberta Culinary Ambassadors, the Cook It Raw Alberta team will gather information from diverse communities and - through careful curation - distill the feedback into key elements that are most representative of the Alberta culinary landscape.

Cook It Raw Alberta

Having completed the first leg of the Cook It Raw Alberta program in Lac La Biche in May, the fourteen regional chefs invited to participate will continue to work together in the coming months – culminating in their collaboration with the international chefs in early October. The goal is to create a line of communication among chefs within the region and forge links internationally, laying the framework for a longstanding culinary network.

Participating Alberta chefs are: Brayden Kozak (Three Boars. Edmonton), Shane Chartrand (Sage Restaurant/River Cree, Enoch), Blair Lebsack (Rge Rd, Edmonton), Cam Dobranski (Brasserie Kensington, Calgary), Darren MacLean (Shokunin, Calgary), John MacNeil (Black Pig Bistro, Calgary), Connie DeSousa (Charcut Roast House, Calgary), Paul Rogalski (Rouge, Calgary), Scott Pohorelic (SAIT, Calgary), Duncan Ly (Yellow Door Bistro, Calgary), Liana Robberecht (Winsport, Calgary), Andrew Winfield (River Café, Calgary), Justin Leboe (Model Milk, Calgary) and Eden Hrabec (Crazyweed, Canmore).

At its core, Cook It Raw Alberta will be a mentorship program, helping local chefs, producers and farmers identify the materials and techniques that are unique to their region and crafting a strong culinary narrative that will resonate with global audiences.
