1 TABLE. 100 GUESTS. COUNTLESS CONVERSATIONS.
“The table: it’s where we share everything. The bounty of our land. The stories of our lives. It’s where we celebrate, educate and sometimes just pontificate. It’s where great food is savoured, great conversations are had, and great friends and often life-long connections are made. It’s also where discussions spark and ideas emerge - because everyone wants to bring their best to the table. And that’s exactly what we’re asking 100 individuals to do.
“Conversation flows naturally around the table - we talk about everything from the food to the mood. From who we are, to where we come from, to where we’re headed. A Seat at Our Table is bringing together 100 individuals, from farmers to flyers, storytellers to business builders… musicians, style-makers and bread bakers. All with the idea of sharing the best of our land – and the best of ourselves - at three special ‘long table’ events this summer and fall.”
The second edition of A Seat at Our Table is set to continue the conversations about Alberta and its culinary future by cultivating a sense of unification through the food we share. Gathering influential and prospective stakeholders with a diversity of backgrounds, this dinner aims to foster meaningful discussions based on the unique vantage points from which each guest views the food in front them. From the gate to the plate… and beyond.

Following up on the success of the inaugural event, the city of St Albert will be once again hosting the Dig In Horticulinary Festival this October 1-3. Kicking off this year’s festivities is a progressive dinner walking tour of Downtown St Albert. Sorry everyone - it’s already sold out!
Back again is the Alberta Ate Chef Collaborative Gala Dinner, held in the stunning Moonflower Room at Hole’s Enjoy Centre. Long tables of white linen and fresh greens will run the length of the room, welcoming the guests to get to know their neighbours for the evening. A dynamic menu showcasing the regional bounty of produce and proteins will be prepared by some of the area’s top chefs. Plating the dishes together in front of the guests, the Alberta Ate chefs showed the true collaborative spirit of the culinary industry, contrary to the cutthroat kitchen antics you find on many cooking shows these days. The talented chefs who are producing this exquisite dinner are:
Chef jW Foster - Fairmont Banff Springs Resort, Banff
Chef Brad Lazarenko – Culina Family of Restaurants, Edmonton
Chef Danielle Job – Holt’s Café Edmonton, Edmonton
Chef Julia Kundera – The Glasshouse Bistro, St Albert
Chef Cory Rakowski - 12 Acres Restaurant, St Albert
Chef Andrew Cowan - Packrat Louie, Edmonton
Chef Severino Lam - XIX, St Albert
The festivities continue on to the next day, with a series of pre-registered workshops and main stage talks being held throughout the day. Workshop sessions cover all aspects of culinary and horticultural interests, from wine tasting to tasty tapas, worm composting to indoor edible gardens, and everything in between. Each one was hands-on for the participants, who were also able to take something home with them – a steal of a deal at $20 per session! The Main stage talks span a plethora of topics, from tree pests to bee keeping, and edible flowers to the Pure Prairie Eating Plan.
