Chef Brad Smoliak
Brad Smoliak owns KITCHEN, a culinary studio in the heart of downtown Edmonton. In “the front of the house” KITCHEN is the home to corporate and private parties, individual and group cooking classes, catered meetings, and more. At “the back of house” there’s a research and development kitchen where Brad develops, tests, and brings to life new menus, recipes, and food products for restaurants, food manufacturers and food service providers.
Before opening KITCHEN, Brad was the lead consulting chef for the Alberta government in their promotional efforts at two different Olympic games. During the Alberta Winter Olympics in 2010, Brad developed and oversaw the execution of the menus for Alberta House and the Alberta branded train between Vancouver and Whistler, using all Alberta based products. In London, for the 2012 Summer Olympics, Brad prepared Alberta based menus, managed the kitchens, and prepared and presented the food at a number of Alberta government hosted events including an exclusive reception at the High Commissioner’s Residence. Brad brought our Alberta advantage and brand to life on the world stage through his creativity, passion and work ethic.

The planning and preparation, the stirring and mixing, the tasting and eating, the sharing with family and friends. Food has never been just fuel and cooking has never been a chore. It’s what some might call a passion, a calling or a true love. I look at food as a way of life, and I am opening up my KITCHEN to share this experience with you.”

KITCHEN offers demonstration cooking classes for one person, or up to a group of 10 people. We work together to design a menu to match your cooking interests and tastes. You and your friends or colleagues get a 3-hour class that includes 5 dishes prepared and explained by Brad, prosecco and wine and recipes to take home.
The heart of every good party is found in the KITCHEN. This KITCHEN is the perfect venue for your next gathering or celebration. Host your event at KITCHEN and include live cooking demonstrations, small plates and tastings, a multi-course or family style dinner, wine, beer and spirits tastings and pairings, entertainment and more.
