The History of Food in this province is one of diversity. We share our culture and heritage through food. Whether a simple dinner, a massive celebration or an afternoon tea, food brings us together to tell stories, share knowledge and build family traditions. The 22nd Historic Festival and Doors Open celebrates Food.
Although we encourage you to incorporate Food into your event, you are not required to do so to take part. Event submissions should be historic in nature and designed to enlighten and entertain your guests.
The EDHS collects your event information and promotes it as part of the festival in a comprehensive marketing campaign including digital, print, television and billboard promotion. Events include tours and gatherings that take place in communities, museums or historical sites but are not limited to these locations. These events may be free, by donation or by charging admission to the public.
There is no cost to register. However, it is a requirement of your registration to provide an evaluation to be submitted upon completion of your event. The evaluation form is included in this registration. These evaluations allow us to secure future funding.
Tell us the story of your heritage with a recipe
OPTIONAL: Submit a recipe from your heritage that can be shared with our guests in the guidebook and through social media. With it, provide a brief description on its origin and who to credit.
