Locavore Lacombe is one-day event added to the already existing Lacombe Days festival. This event is being created with the purpose of building depth to this annual festival, by bringing the Lacombe and area food & beverage (F&B) community together to highlight options that locals, guests, and visitors can indulge in. The introduction of Locavore Lacombe to the already existing festival is a perfect opportunity for guests & visitors to try new restaurants or reconnect with some old favorites to experience the depth of options inclusive to the diverse F&B culinary culture available within our area. Spotlighting through a sample & mingle exhibit, local area producers, processors, restaurants, and retailers will have the opportunity to interact with those who not only live within the Lacombe area, but also those who are visiting the area each summer, which will rejuvenate intrigue and excitement for the culinary options that are available within the region.
Event goers will be able to meet with & talk to the farmers while interacting with the chefs who create the palatable experience. This will, in itself, cement a bond for the F&B culinary culture that our area offers and support what a Locavore is: a person interested in eating food that is locally produced.
The festival will awaken the value of home-grown food and talents, and being that it is a new component added to an existing festival will attract bigger audiences. Locavore Lacombe will pull upon not only talents within our community to promote and highlight this event yet dually with the support of provincial agencies this event will strengthen provincial awareness for the richness of the Lacombe area.
