What is Culinary Tourism?
Culinary Tourism delivers an authentic Alberta experience to visitors and locals alike by providing an opportunity to taste the local terroir though its agricultural and processed food products available at shops, restaurants, markets, events, in hotel rooms and through tourism operators.
ACTA Mission Statement
The purpose of the Alberta Culinary Tourism Alliance is to increase the recognition and appreciation of Alberta’s produce and value-added culinary tourism experiences.
The Alberta Culinary Tourism Alliance does this through research, which supports sustainable program development, and innovative marketing that reaches today’s demanding consumers and culinary travelers.
Alberta’s culinary tourism goals:
- Support initiatives that enhance culinary tourism experiences that also increase spending.
- Increase consumer awareness and appreciation of Alberta as a culinary destination.
- Increase consumer spending on Alberta’s products and value-added culinary experiences.
- Develop culinary tourism products to support the goals and mission.
- Promote these newly developed culinary tourism experiences.
Actions and Priorities
- Secure medium/long term funding
- Provide guidance and assistance in marketing and product development
- Establish new partnerships
- Develop ‘messaging and ongoing communication with stakeholders
- Consumer education and advocacy
