The Taste of Wetaskiwin is a brand new adult only event being held on September 28, 2018, from 7-10pm at the Memorial Arts Centre. Taste of Wetaskiwin is being held in conjunction with Alberta Culture Days weekend, September 28-30th.Taste of Wetaskiwin showcases our amazing array of local fare and brews in bite-sized portions! Tickets are $2.00 per portion (food and drinks), and can be purchased in advance through Eventbrite or at Wetaskiwin City Hall. Remaining tickets will be sold at the door of the event. As part of Alberta Open Farm Days, a province-wide event, Parkland County and Community Futures Capital Region have teamed up this year to offer an exciting guided adventure: The Local Farm Trail!Visitors will be able to experience five participating farms on an intimate level, while also taking part in an amazing culinary experience. Join us on Saturday, August 18th to maximize your Alberta Open Farm Days experience!The Local Farm Trail tour will begin and end at The Multicultural Heritage Centre in Stony Plain, and will include visitations of the following farms:Happy Acres U-PickAspen Grove NurseriesFarmer Dell’sHomegrown Foods Ltd.Good Morning HoneyAdventurers will be invited to try multiple hands-on activities, enjoy fresh food tastings, and learn more about how their food gets from farm to table. Taste of the Heartland: 5-course dinner, lead by Chef Brenda Brinson of Brenda’s Cozy Cafe on Main Street Stettler.
Open Farm Days Bus Tour: 6 hours on a multi-farm bus tour and you’ll see why it’s not just a career, it’s a lifestyle.
Meet us at the County of Stettler Shop south of the town limits to confirm your attendance and join the bus tour! This full day event includes 2 meals, a snack and a full service coach bus to take you from stop to stop.
8:00 am – Pancake Breakfast served at the County of Stettler Shop
9:30 am – Start loading onto the coach bus to prepare for a busy day
10:00 am – Depart the County of Stettler Shop to explore the County of Stettler (and the Agriculture Industry)
11:30 pm- Lunch served
4:00 pm- Finish up the last of the farm visits and take home a new memory of life on the farm
Each bus will visit 4 farms specializing in a different area of the agriculture industry. Stops will be announced shortly
County of Stettler Ag Services staff along with volunteers will be onboard the bus to answer questions and showcase other areas of the agriculture industry that we are not able to cover in 6 hours.
