Chef Stephen Baidacoff’s culinary career started in the small town of Georgetown, Ontario at the age of 16. At 20, he enrolled in George Brown’s Culinary Management program in Toronto, Ontario. While attending college, Stephen worked under his long time idol, Susur Lee. It was here he refined his technique and learned the real flavours of Cantonese cuisine with a classic French application.
In the fall of 2010, Stephen moved to Italy where he worked at Michelin Starred Il Postale. Il Postale taught him modern approaches to classical Italian dishes. Afterwards, Stephen travelled to Hong Kong, to intern at the 3 Star Michelin restaurant, Bo Innovations, and then to Provence, France where he was a Chef de Partie at Hotel Crillon Le Brave.
In January 2012, Chef Baidacoff joined the opening team of the Trump Tower and Hotel Toronto. Deciding to trade AAA five star dining for simple rustic food; he took the position of Sous-chef under Chefs Damon Clements and Daniel Usher at Restaurant Ortolan.
Chef Baidacoff moved to Edmonton in 2014 in search of Canada’s next great culinary destination. He partnered with Chef Eric Hanson and Kathryn Joel in the development of the new “Get Cooking” studio. Their hopes are to strengthen the relationships between community and all facets of local food.
