OHCB is a family-run business that was founded in 1992. Thomas and Carolyn Olson, along with their 10 children, represent a modern conservation family that operates four bison ranches in Western Canada. The ranches are dedicated to the conservation of bison and the restoration of the natural environmental ecosystems of their respective regions.

In order to help manage the costs of the conservation ranches, the Olson’s started Olson’s High Country Bison, a meat distribution business that sells grass-fed bison products to the most discerning connoisseurs and supporters of bison conservation.

We envision the buffalo, “tatanka”, brought back to its traditional role as the staple food for those who inhabit this region.
