Duncan Ly - Executive Chef, Hotel Arts Group

Duncan Ly is the Executive Chef of the Hotel Arts Group. Chef Ly started his culinary career at the Wickaninnish Inn in Tofino and has worked over the years at Diva (Metropolitan Hotel, Vancouver), Catch (Hyatt Regency, Calgary) and the Elbow River Casino (Calgary) before joining Hotel Arts Group in 2005 as Executive Chef

In his tenure with the Hotel Arts Group, Chef Ly has opened and influenced the cuisines of four separate restaurants: the Vietmodern cuisine of Raw Bar by Duncan Ly, the intimate and award-winning Chef’s Table at Kensington Riverside Inn, as well as the 200-seat Olives Restaurant and most recently, Yellow Door Bistro. He has also overseen the creation of a new banquet kitchen to support hosting on-site events for up to 700 attendees, as well as off-site catering functions for up to 1,400 guests

Chef Ly has won numerous accolades during the course of his culinary career. He competed at Gold Medal Plates: Canada’s Culinary Championships, numerous regional competitions and was part of Team Alberta in Luxembourg at the World Culinary Olympics. Chef represented Calgary’s exciting dining scene at the Canadian Culinary Championships in February 2014 taking home the silver medal after winning Gold Medal Plates in Calgary November 2013.
