Peeled: Calgary’s First Cocktail Festival
Calgary, AB – BassBus and In-Houze Productions celebrates all that is cocktails with the first annual PEELED® Cocktail Festival August 7th, 12th – 14th, 2017 at various venues around Calgary. Launched out of a passion for the spirits industry, its creativeness and potential, PEELED is a collaborative effort between spirits companies, mixologists, food and beverage purveyors, event planners and media to develop and grow the cocktail community in Calgary. The weekend will feature seminars, tastings, networking events and much more.
PEELED is a Calgary-based cocktail festival committed to supporting, promoting and growing the cocktail industry in Calgary. For its first year, PEELED will offer many different types of “cocktail interactions” and curated cocktail experiences at over 14 venues in Calgary including: Bank and Barron, Klein/Harris, Last Best, Milk Tiger, Model Citizen, Native Tongues, Proof, One18 Empire Ox Bar de Tapas, Proof, Raw Bar, Ricardo’s Hideaway, Sub Rosa, and The Derrick Gin Mill. Guests will experience amazing creations and meet the talent behind their making including workshops with world renowned Dale DeGroff, a.k.a King Cocktail and author of “The Craft of The Cocktail”, as well as Jack McGarry of Dead Rabbit NYC who was awarded the world’s best new cocktail bar mere months after it opened. In the long term, BassBus and In-Houze Productions are looking to grow the festival to include other events throughout the year.
PEELED’s goal is to grow industry talent and educate the public alongside the industry’s development to make Calgary a cocktail destination similar to what has been done with Calgary’s culinary scene since Top Chef brought Calgary international acclaim. Calgary is considered a top culinary destination thanks to the collaborative efforts focused on developing interesting content, spreading the word thru media channels, and continually being innovative. PEELED strives to replicate that success for the cocktail industry and its fans.
For one weekend in August, Calgary will be turned into a playground for the cocktail curious. For a small fee, the public can purchase a ticket where they will be given a passport to explore a variety of cocktail experiences around town. Each page in the passport is sponsored by a different spirit company and venue. The passport tells the story of the spirit, venue and mixologist.
PEELED aims to become the industry’s annual meeting place for exchanging new ideas, products and techniques.
